Mamie Wallace, 89, dies in Wayland

WAYLAND ---- Mamie Elenor Wallace, 89, of Parkview Home, Wayland, formerly of Washington, died Feb. 13, 1997, following a lengthy illness.

Services will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, Washington, with the Rev. Dennis Martin officiating. Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery, Washington.

Visitation begins Sunday at 10 a.m. at the Jones Eden Funeral Home, Washington. A prayer service will be held Sunday at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established with the Parkview Home and the Washington Humane Society.

Mamie Wallace was born Sept. 7, 1907, in Ollie, to Harry and Rose B. (Smith) Reed. She attended St. Elizabeth's School, Harper, and married Orin A. Wallace in Washington on June 20, 1933. She worked as a cook at Washington County Hospital for seven years and in 1936, she began working at Winga's, where she worked until her retirement in 1972.

She lived most of her life in the Washington community and had resided in Wayland for the past 11 years. She was a member of St. James Catholic Church.

Survivors include: two daughters, Nelle Brown and Juanita Zieglowsky, both of Washington; 18 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Bernard Reed and Francis Reed, both of Washington, Hubert Reed, Omaha, Neb.; one sister, Willus Greiner, Marion; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1979, one daughter, two sons and one sister.
