Orin Wallace dies Tuesday

Orin A. Wallace, 81, of 605 North Avenue D, died Tuesday evening, April 17, 1979, at his home. He had been well for the past year, but death was sudden and unexpected.

Funeral services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at the St. James Catholic Church with Rev. Edward J. Shepard officiating. Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery. Parish Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. and K. C. rosary at 8 p.m. Thursday at the Jones Funeral Home.

Orin Alvin Wallace was born Oct. 27, 1897, in Washington County near Haskins, the son of William K. and Sarah Ellen Hannah Wallace. He attended rural schools in Washington County. In February 1918 he married Gertrude Messenger. She preceded him in death. On June 20, 1933, he married Mamie E. Reed of Washington.

He had lived all his life in Washington, was a carpenter, and a member of St. James Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include his wife, Mamie of Washington; the following children, Mrs. Walter (Evelyn) Bruty of Washington; Orin Alvin Wallace, Jr. of San Pablo, Calif,; Standley Wallace of Washington; Mrs. Clarence (Juanita) Zieglowsky of Washington; 18 grand and 3 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Iva Martin of Kalona and Mrs. Mabel Spenner of Kalona.

He was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
