Catherine Wallace

Catherine E. Wallace, 73, of Washington, died Wednesday, March 17, 2004, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

Born May 18, 1930, in Washington, she was the daughter of John and Fern Wilson Little. On Sept. 8, 1947, she married Stanley Wallace in Washington. He died in 1993.

Mrs. Wallace worked for the Department of Transportation in Washington until her retirement. She also did secretarial work at General Telephone Co., McCleery Cumming Co., Washington Manufacturing and the Pearl Button Factory.

She was a lifetime resident of Washington and was a graduate of Washington High School. She was of the Baptist Faith. She was active in genealogy, traveling and her church.

Survivors include one son, Roger (Colleen) Wallace of Davenport and Joseph (Kathy) Wallace of Washington; one daughter, Kathy (Bob) Bruer of Burlington; seven grandchildren, Brian Wallace, Christina Borcherding, Joey Wallace, Jill Wallace, Jennifer Breuer, Christopher Breuer and Elizabeth Breuer; three great-grandchildren, Jordan Wallace, Joshua Wallace and Alexis Wallace; one brother, Carl (Darlene) Little of Marshalltown; one sister, Charlotte (Floyd) Murray of Chariton.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Calvin Little.

Visitation will be from noon to 8:30 p.m. Friday at Jones Funeral Home in Washington, where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The funeral for Mrs. Wallace will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Faith Baptist Church in Washington, with Pastors Don Ruffenach and Oliver Parrish and Jack Bonham officiating. Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington.
