GIVES NO REASON FOR ENDING LIFE
MRS. EDWARDS LEFT NO MESSAGE ----
FUNERAL SERVICES TO BE HELD TOMORROW

Funeral services for Mrs. Elsie Edwards will be held at the Goodin funeral parlors Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock, in charge of Dr. W. W. Bowers. Burial will be in Elm Grove cemetery.

Mrs. Edwards died Saturday evening from a dose of strychnine, self administered. She left no message and her reason for wishing to end her life are not known. She was hurried to the county hospital immediately after swallowing the poison, but nothing could be done to save her life.

Elsie Elvira Messenger was born January 3, 1890, in this community, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Messenger. She was married in 1906 to Charles Edwards, who died in 1916, leaving her with two boys, Raymond, now 16 years old, and Gerald, aged 13. She courageously took up the burden of making a home for them, working hard to support her family and maintaining the home despite many difficulties.

She leaves her parents, the two sons, and one brother, John Messenger of Muscatine, and three sisters, Miss Stella Messenger of Muscatine, Mrs. Mary Williams and Mrs. Gertrude Wallace of Washington. When a young woman she united with the Baptist church and had maintained her affiliation with that denomination.
