Walter H. Bruty, 61, dies today

Walter H. Bruty, 61, of route 2 Washington died this morning, August 22, 1974, at the Washington county Hospital, after an illness of three weeks.

The funeral will be Monday at 10 a.m. in St. James Catholic Church with the Rev. Edward J. Sheperd in charge. Rosary will be Sunday at 7:30 p.m. in Sherman-Eden Funeral Home. The family will be at the Robert Bruty residence to receive friends. Friends may also call at the funeral home after noon Saturday. A memorial, to go to the Cancer Fund, has been established.

Mr. Bruty, a carpenter, was born here June 13, 1913, a son of Frank and Jane Swift Bruty. He was reared in this community and married Aug. 24, 1934, to Evelyn Wallace. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church. Surviving are his wife; three sons; Robert, Hubert and Frank of Washington; three daughters, Mrs. Gerald (Betty) Cherryholmes of Washington, Mrs. Ernest (Ellen) Osborn of Milan, Ill., and Mrs. William (Rita) Mathes of Fontana, Wis.; three sisters: Kathleen Bruty, Mrs. Joseph Ilines and Mrs. Joseph Gevock of Washington, sister Mary St. Lucille (BVM) of Chicago, and Mrs. Walter Schoenfelder of Oakdale; and 19 grandchildren.

His parents, two brothers, Leon and William, and a grandson, Bryan, preceded him in death.
