Funeral Monday for Mrs. Walter Bruty

Funeral services for Mrs. Walter (Evelyn) Bruty of Washington will be at 2 p.m. Monday at St. James Catholic Church. The Rev. James Whalen will officiate with burial in Elm Grove Cemetery. A prayer service will be held at 8 p.m. Sunday at Sherman-Eden Funeral Home, Washington.

Mrs. Bruty died unexpectedly Friday, Oct. 7, 1983. She was 65 years old.

Evelyn Wallace Bruty was born July 18, 1918, in Washington County, the daughter of Orin and Gertrude Messenger Wallace. Reared and educated in Washington, she married Walter H. Bruty on Aug. 24, 1934, at Washington. Mr. Bruty preceded his wife in death on Aug. 22, 1974. A housewife, Mrs. Bruty was a member of the St. James Catholic Church.

Survivors include three sons, Robert, Hubert and Frank Bruty, all of Washington; three daughters, Mrs. Gerald (Betty) Cherryholmes of Fort Worth, Texas, Mrs. Ernest (Ellen) Osborn of Milan, Ill., Mrs. William (Rita) Mathes of Brownsville, Texas; 22 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; her step-mother, Mrs. Orin (Mamie) Wallace of Washington; two brothers, Stanly Wallace of Washington and Orin Wallace, Jr. of Bend, Ore.; two sisters, Mrs. Edsel (Nellie) Brown and Mrs. Clarance (Juanita) Zieglowsky, both of Washington; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one grandson, Bryan Bruty.
