A. BEENBLOSSOM, AGED 80, IS DEAD

HAD BEEN ILL ONLY A WEEK ---- FUNERAL WILL BE HELD THURSDAY AFTERNOON

Abraham Beenblossom was born in Harrison county, Indiana, Sept. 13, 1839, and came by wagon to Iowa with his parents when four years of age. The family came across the Mississippi by ferry at Burlington, which then was a village of a half a dozen houses. They later came to a farm south of Washington now owned by John Wagner.

Mr. Beenblossom was married June 15, 1867, to Mary Sparr, and five children were born to them of whom three survive, Two, Willie and Gertrude are dead. The living are C. R. Beenblossom of southeast of town, Mrs. Elmer Kephart of this city, and Mrs. T. J. Lewis of Mulberry, Ind. Mr. Beenblossom served in the Civil War in Company B, Forty-fifth Iowa.

After his first wife's death, he was married on January 29, 1880, to Jane Sage. To this union were born six children, Mrs. D. F. Sayre of south of town, Mrs. Ralph Williams and Robert A. of this city. John M. of Ainsworth,and Mrs. Ira Davidson of north of town. There is one step-daughter, Mrs. Amile Daub. Mr. Beenblossom also leaves thirty grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Sarah Morgan of Raleigh county, Kansas, who is ninety years old.

The deceased lived for fifty years on his farm south of Washington but on account of ill health moved to town three years ago last January, to his home on South Ninth street, where he passed away yesterday afternoon after an illness of only a week.

Funeral services will be held at the late home Thursday afternoon at three o'clock.
