HELMUTH, Bertha Nissley, 85, Antrim, Ohio, formerly of Leon, Iowa, died January 5, 2006 at her daughter's home. Funeral services were held January 8 at Oak Grove Mennonite Church in Aroda, Virginia.

BERTHA NISSLEY HELMUTH ... Bertha Nissley Helmuth age 85, died Thursday, January 5, 2006 while visiting at the home of her daughter, Verna Overholt.

She lived with her son, Frederick and Anna Helmuth at Antrim, Ohio. She was formally from Pratts, Virginia.

Mrs. Helmuth was born May 30, 1920 in Sawyer, Wisconsin and was the daughter of the late, Ira and Barbara [Schlabach] Nissley. She was a born again child of god, and died, faithful.

In her lifetime she lived in Ashland Wis., Thomas OK., Kalona IA, Costa Rico, Central America, Whiteville TN., Aroda Va, Harrisonburg VA, and Antrim Ohio.

On January 11, 1940 she was married to Edgar Earl Helmuth, who preceded her in death on November 28, 1996.

She is survived by seven daughters, Barbara (Jacob) Hershberger of Costa Rico, Central America, Verna (Ray) Overholt of Abbeville, SC, Rosemary (Lloyd) Helmuth of Whiteville, TN, Lorraine (Darrell) Diener of Arthur, IL, Salinda (Cletus) Rhodes of Dayton, VA, Grace (Durlan) Miller of baltic, OH, Anne (James) Yoder of Harrisonburg, VA.

Also by eight sons: Roger (Ruth) Helmuth of Cross Hill, SC, Frederick (Anna) Helmuth of Antrim, OH, Jacob (Laura Jean) Helmuth of Sarasota, FL, Simon (Lillian) Helmuth of Hicksville, OH, Sanford (Sheila) Helmuth of Bridgewater, VA, James (Brenda) Helmuth of Harrisonburg, VA, Timothy (Romila) Helmuth of Aroda, VA, and Mark (Retha) Helmuth of Harrisonburg, VA.

She had 71 grandchildren and 68 great grandchildren. One brother, David Nissley of Arthur, IL.

Preceding her in death in addition to her husband, was a daughter, Edna Mae, two sisters: Irene Bender and Ellen Nissley, a brother, Eli Nissley, one son-in-law, one granddaughter, and four great grandchildren.
