Mrs. Josephine Hendricks, 85, died last night about 9 o'clock at the Washington County hospital where she had been a patient since Jan 29. Prior to the illness requiring hospitalization, she had been in failing health.
Funeral services which are in charge of the F. A. Hoskins funeral home will be held at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon at the Brighton Christian Church conducted by Rev. R.W. Fillmore. Burial wil be at Hillcrest cemetery.
Josephine Nelson was born Sep 27, 1861, at Nashville, Tenn., a daughter of S. E. and Arilla Nelson. When she was three years old, she came to Iowa with her parents who settled in the Clay community.
She was married to E. Alonzo Brown at Oskaloosa Jan 5, 1879, and they were the parents of three children. Mr. Brown died May 19, 1908, and on June 22, 1915, she was married to Wesley Hendricks who died Mar 20, 1935. She was a member of the Journal's Three Quarter Century club.
Surviving are the daughter, Mrs. Frank Parcell of Fairfield, and son Clarence Brown, northwest of Brighton where Mrs. Hendricks had made her home for sometime. A son, Elbert, died a few years ago. Also surviving are 16 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
