Evelyn QUIGLEY, 97, of Washington died Sunday, Jan 7, 2007 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 10 at Beatty Funeral Home in Washington, with the Rev. Kitch SHATZER officiating. Burial will be in the Cambrian Cemetery, (Louisa County). Visitation will begin at noon Tuesday at the funeral home, with the family present from 6 until 8 p.m. A general memorial has been established.

Mrs. QUIGLEY was born Nov. 30, 1909, near Cotter, to Evan H. and Ruth (PETERS) ARTHUR. She married Jesse D. QUIGLEY on April 9, 1932 at the Rock Island Presbyterian Church. He preceded her in death in 1973.

Mrs. QUIGLEY graduated from Cotter High School in 1929. She was a member of the Cotter Presbyterian Church, a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for nearly 50 years and a member of the Cotter Guild. She farmed with her husband in the Cotter and Ainsworth area and also worked at the State Cafe, Wolf's Greenhuse and the United Presbyterian Home. She moved to Washington in 1974 and to the Washington Care Center in 2000.

Surviving are one son, Jack QUIGLEY and wife Margaret of Washington, one grandson; and two great-grandsons.

Mrs. QUIGLEY was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers, Lee, Leonard, and Lyle; and two sisters, Gwen JONES and Leona Mae GARDNER.
