Services for Mrs. Frena M. Parsons, 87, of near Hartford were held at the Richardson Funeral Home in Carlisle, Saturday afternoon with burial in the Hartford Cemetery. Mrs. Parsons died Thursday morning at Des Moines General Hospital where she had been a patient four days. A member of a pioneer Warren County family, she was born near Summerset and had lived most of her life in a farm near Hartford. For many years she was active in the county Republican organization. She was a member of Sans Souci Club, Federated Woman’s Club in Des Moines and served on the board of directors of the American Red Cross. Mrs. Parsons was a charter member of the Warren County Historical Society and served 25 years as a 4-H leader. She was an inveterate fairgoer and had camped 62 years at the Iowa State Fair.
Survivors include three sons, John Parsons of Indianola, Carl Parsons of Cedar Rapids, Eugene Parsons of rural Hartford; a daughter, Mrs. Virginia Knoll of Sandusky, Ohio; 10 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
