Indianola, IA. – Myron S. Orr, 79, retired owner and operator of Orr Furniture Store and Orr Funeral Home here, died of lung ailment Wednesday at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Indianola I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Mr. Orr was born in Lorimor and had lived in Indianola most of his life. He previously served as director of Peoples Trust and Savings Bank for 35 years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Indianola, Community Inc., Indianola Country Club, Des Moines Consistory, Za-Ga-Zig Shrine, Royal Order of Jesters. He was past president of Indianola Chamber of Commerce, past master of Warren Lodge No. 53, A.F. & A. M. and was the last known surviving charter member of Indianola Noon Lions Club.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; two daughters, Mary Hattery of Cedar Rapids and Jane Nelson of Pittsburgh, PA.; a son, Richard W. of Indianola; two sisters, Margaret Ferguson of Mesa, Ariz., and Eloise Sacre of Indianola; two brothers, John and Leland, both of Des Moines; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Friends may call after noon today at Peterson Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today. This will be the only viewing time.
