Jane Agnes Carlin, only daughter of John and Catherine Carlin, was born Nov. 6, 1878, at Ashland, Ill. She died Feb 16, 1956 after a long illness at the home of a son, Edd, near Ankeny at the age of 77 years, 3 months and 10 days. She received her schooling in Illinois and came to Iowa with her parents in 1894 to a farm near Ackworth. On December 20, 1896 she was united in marriage to Edward E. Bishop of Summerset. To this union was born four sons, John A. of Des Moines, Gerald L. of Lacona, Lester F. and Edward E. of Ankeny; three daughters, Mrs. Catherine Davis of Cary, Ill.; Mrs. Florence Wiedman of Des Moines and Mrs. Mary King who died in 1936. She is survived by four sons and two daughters, 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband and brothers. Services were held Monday, Feb. 20, at 9:30 a.m. by Fr. John J. Judge in St. Mary’s Church at Lacona. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery here.
