L. W. Stanley
Lunin W. Stanley, eldest son of Henry and Hannah Vance Stanley, was born Sept. 16, 1861 and died Jan. 20, 1956 at the age of 94 years, 4 months and 4 days. He was married to Mollie C. Wise Feb. 3, 1889. Two children were born to this union: Clark of Kansas City, MO., and Cora L. Jackson of Oswego, Kans. On Aug 16, 1899 he was united in marriage to Josie Nickols and to this union 5 children were born: Elmer, Ralph and Clara of Kansas City, MO., Homer of Manchester and Milo of Kansas City, Kans.
On Sept. 4, 1928 he was married to Ada L. Burnett in the Burnett home. He lived in Lacona until the death of his wife, June 3, 1950, but being blind, was unable to live alone, so was cared for in the home of Mrs. Nelle Burt of New Virginia, Mrs. R. B. Hughes and Mrs. Albert Allen of Indianola, and the Burton Nursing Home, where he died.
He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, one brother, Selby of Mt. Ayr, two sisters, Ida Brimmer of Creston and Anna Hill of Beaconsfield; cousins, Alice Landes, Dennie Gug and Chauncey Stanley of Lacona, and many other relatives and friends.
