Mrs. Thomas McCoy
Rosa May Gilliland, daughter of Archibald Henderson Gilliland and Martha Ellen Brown, was born Oct. 8, 1879, and died at her home east of Indianola Jan. 14, 1956 at the age of 76 years, 3 months and 6 days. In early youth she was united with the church and her letter remains with the United Presbyterian Church at Scotch Ridge. She was united in marriage to Thomas Grant McCoy Aug 18, 1904. To this union was born seven children: Thomas J. of Indianola, Charles G., Mrs. Everette Kenoyer (May), and William W. of Ackworth; Mrs. John Lord (Elizabeth) of Stockton, Ill., George A. of Artesia, Calif., and Harry H. of Compton, Calif. With the exception of a few years in Greene County, Iowa, she lived her entire life in Warren County.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a brother, a sister, five grandchildren and one great grandson. She is survived by her seven children, four daughters-in-law, 2 sons-in-law, 18 grandchildren, five great grandchildren, three sisters: Mrs. Joe Petre (Mary) of Carlisle, Mrs. Henry LaMon (Edith) of Troutdale, Ore., and Mrs. Josephine Gilliland of Newport, Ore; three brothers, William Gilliland of Long Beach, Calif., Charles H. Gilliland of Des Moines, and Ralph A. Gilliland of Indianola, and a host of other relatives and friends. Services were held Wednesday, Jan. 18, at the Peterson’s Funeral Home. The Rev. G. L.
