Benjamin Franklin Lee, son of James H. and Hannah Lee, was born near Bloomington, Ill., May 26, 1867, and died December 29, 1938, at the age of 71 years, 7 months and 3 days. He came to Indianola with his parents in 1890. He was united in marriage to Minnie M. Flager in 1891. To this union were born five children, two dying in infancy, and two daughters and one son surviving. They are: Bennie Lee of Sioux City, Iowa; Mrs. James Christianson of Laurel, Nebr.; and Mrs. Dan Thomas of Eagle Grove, Iowa. He also leaves nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, three sisters, Mrs. Walter Lippincott and Mrs. Joe Carey of Indianola, and Mrs. John Short of Ackworth, and one brother, Harvey Lee of Indianola.
Following the death of his wife in 1909, he made his home with his daughter in Eagle Grove. Six months ago he came to Ackworth to spend his later years with his sister, Mrs. John Short. He suffered a stroke and his heart being weak, he departed this life to the Great Beyond. He was a member of the Christian Church at the time of his residence here. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon, Dec. 30, at the Overton Funeral Home in Indianola, conducted by the Rev. W. M. Scheuermann, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal Church of Indianola. Interment was in Indianola.
