Carrol was born November 22, 1939 to Gerald and Mildred Lucas of Norwalk, Iowa. Carrol was raised on a farm and developed her passion for animals of all kinds, but especially dogs and horses. She met the love of her life, Paul, when she was in the 8th grade. They dated all through high school. Carrol graduated from Norwalk High School in 1957. In October of 1957 they were engaged to be married. Carrol and Paul were married on March 2, 1958. They bought and moved to their first house in 1959 and shortly thereafter welcomed their first child, Vickie, into their lives on September 9, 1959. A mere 17 months later the second child, Bunny, arrived. 18 months later the third child, David, was welcomed. Carrol and Paul lived In Norwalk, Iowa till 1998 when they moved to their new home in Milo, Iowa. Carrol was a warm and loving wife and mother and loved her husband and her children fiercely. She was quick with a smile and a hug and an encouraging word for anyone who needed it and a stern look whenever it was necessary to keep her children in line. She loved to cook for family and friends. She loved to be outdoors and work in the yard and garden. She had a vegetable garden that she also canned the produce from. She loved her roses and flower gardens and generally being outdoors. Outdoors also included camping. She and Paul camped when the children were small and continued to camp as the children grew up and had families of their own to join in the fun. Carrol liked to sew and cross stitch and made many of the framed artwork that graces the walls of her beautifully decorated home. She also loved and collected bears of all kinds, but especially the many Boyd’s bears, that also grace her home. Later in her life she had begun to quilt and even learned to crochet at the instruction of her two daughters. She always cherished every minute she spent with her husband and children and was always welcoming of friends who would stop by. Carrol knew no strangers. She had a warm smile for anyone she met and could talk to anyone as if she has known them for years. We will all miss her deeply but rest easy knowing she is now at peace. We will love her forever!
Carrol is survived by her husband Paul Cameron; children, Vickie (Ron) Gamble, Bunny (Dan) Lestina, David (Ronda) Cameron; grandchildren, Melinda (Doug) Sutherland, Michael (Rechelle) Gamble, Jennifer Kaili, Kristopher Kaili, Meredith (Nathan) Lamb; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; sister, Louise (Junior) Lane.
