Mrs. Margaret Cavit, after an illness extending over a period of almost 12 years, passed away at her home in Indianola last Thursday noon, March 23, 1922. Mrs. Cavit had just passed her 82nd year and had been a resident of this community for almost 53 years. About years ago her health began to fail. She was greatly afflicted with rheumatism and had been unable to walk for nine years preceding her death. She suffered much but through it all was patient and cheerful. She was a noble Christian spirit and her life was a blessing to all who came in touch with her.

Margaret Ross was born March 14, 1840, near Wellsville, Ohio. On April 29, 1869, she was united in marriage to George Cavit. Following their marriage they came to Warren county, Iowa, locating on a farm four and one half miles northwest of Indianola. Mr. Cavit died in 1880. About 14 years ago Mrs. Cavit rented the farm and moved into Indianola, where she resided until the time of her death.

Mrs. Cavit was a faithful member of the First Presbyterian church, having united with the church, by letter, November 3, 1889. She was an intelligent, sincere Christian woman, with a firm abiding faith in Jesus Christ. She was a woman of strong character and exhibited in her life the spirit of the Master. Faithful unto death, she has received the crown of life.

To Mr. and Mrs. Cavit three daughters were born. The oldest, Mrs. Eva Gunn, died April 19, 1898. Those who survive the mother are Miss Elizabeth and Mrs. Lottie McElroy, both of Indianola. She also leaves three grand-children, Ernest and George Gunn and Florence McElroy.

The funeral service, conducted by her pastor, Rev. Thomas McGregor, assisted by Rev R. L. Adams was held at the home Saturday afternoon at 2:00. Appropriate hymns were sung by Mrs. Fred Peterson and Mrs L. E. Hooper, accompanied by Mrs. Alice B. Miller. After the service at the home the body was laid to rest in the family lot in the Indianola cemetery "Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints."
