Lee Patrick Reinholdt
(January 4, 1944 - September 20, 2021)

Lee Patrick Reinholdt was born at home on January 4, 1944, to Ernest and Ruby (Knight) Reinholdt. He passed away peacefully on Monday, September 20, 2021, at MercyOne Hospice Care in Johnston, Iowa at the age of 77. He attended Martensdale St. Marys school, participating in several sports including baseball and basketball. In the 8th grade, Lee met his future wife, Beverly Couch. He left school in the 12th grade to enlist in the United States Marine Corps.
Lee served in the Marine Corps from 1961 through 1964, with tours overseas in the Philippines and Okinawa, Japan. He and Beverly were married during this time on May 18, 1963. Their first home was at Camp Pendleton in California. After Lee’s honorable discharge from the Marine Corps, they made their home in Churchville, Iowa. Here they were blessed with three daughters: Lisa, Brenda, and Melissa (Missy).
Lee initially worked for Swift and Company for a short time before beginning his career at Armstrong/Titan Tire in Des Moines, where he retired after 30 plus years. After his retirement he worked for a short period of time at Spain Electric and Ganoe Electric. Lee and Bev raised their grandson, Alex Behounek. Lee and Alex shared a special bond. Lee served his community by being a member of the Izaak Walton League in Des Moines. He was also a member of the Cumming American Legion Post 562 for over 50 years.
In his free time, Lee enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting. He was an avid gun and World War II aircraft enthusiast. Lee also enjoyed western movies, especially those starring John Wayne, baseball and the Green Bay Packers.
Lee is survived by his soulmate and the love of his life for over 58 years, Beverly Reinholdt; daughters, Lisa (Robert, Jr.) Dooly and Melissa (Derek) Parmentier; grandchildren, Alex Behounek, Ashley (Nate) Thomason, Christopher (Veronica) Parmentier, Megan (Cody) Regennitter, and Jessica (Jordan) Briggs; great-grandchildren, Aiden, Brydon, Scarlette and Sean Thomason, Jackson and Gideon Parmentier, and Ella Briggs; many cousins, nieces, and nephews, and daughter, Brenda (Bill) Floyd. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Ruby Reinholdt; and siblings, Dorothy Mae Spain, Charles Reinholdt, James Reinholdt, and William Reinholdt.
Funeral services will be held 7:30 p.m. Thursday, September 23, 2021 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 24 in the Calvary Cemetery, Churchville, IA.
Visitation will be held prior to services from 4 to 7:30 p.m. where family will be present from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Memorials may be given to the Cumming American Legion Post 562.
