Obituaries – Jennie McCormick
Jennie Inez Oxenreider, daughter of William and Clarissa Oxenreider, was born August 4, 1905 and departed this life at home one-half mile south of Oakley, November 14, 1964 at the age of 59 years, three months and ten days. She was united in marriage to Harland James McCormick at Chariton May 16, 1926. To this union were born four daughters and six sons. Preceding her in death were three infant sons, one sister and her mother and father. She leaves to mourn her passing her loving husband, Harland and seven children and 17 grandchildren. The children are: Mrs. Gene Nolin (Marjorie), Monroe; Mrs. Charles Joy (Inez), Omaha, Nebr.; Mrs. Dick Stone (Lucille), Chariton; Ronald McCormick, Des Moines; Bill McCormick, Chariton; Mrs. Edward Legg (Wilma), St. Cloud, Minn.; Malcolm McCormick, Columbus, Ga. Three sisters, Mrs. J. L. Edgington, Indianola, Mrs. Robert Humke, Ackley, and Mrs. Irvin Willike, Aplington, and an uncle, Taylor Oxenreider, Chariton, nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. She was baptized in the Christian church, graduated from Lacona High School, and taught school in this area before her marriage. Her life centered around her home and family. She was born and raised in Lacona and lived her entire life in the community. Services were held at the Lacona Christian Church at 2 p.m. Nov. 17, with the Rev. Stanley Kennedy and the Rev. Eldon Jandebeur officiating. Interment was at Newbern Cemetery. Pallbearers were Gerald McCormick, Thomas McCormick, Keith McCormick, Kenneth McCormick, James McCormick Jr., and J. L. Edgington.
