George McCoy
George Ernest McCoy, son of Beverly and Alice McCoy, was born February 21, 1889 and died April 20, 1965, at the age of 76 years. He was born in Greene County, Iowa, and raised and educated in that area. He was married to Bessie Mae Smith on January 25, 1911. To this union seven children were born. Preceding him in death were two daughters: Iona and Kathleen, four brothers, two sisters, one grandchild and two great grandchildren. He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Walter (Sarah) Thorne of Chariton, Mrs. Cecil (Creola) Blubaugh of Melrose; and Mrs. Frank (Betty Jean) Martinache of Des Moines, two sons; George McCoy of Melrose and James McCoy of Rockford, Ill.; one brother, Orville McCoy of Montana, seventeen grandchildren and thirty-seven great grandchildren. Services were conducted at the Miley Chapel, Thursday, April 22, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. William Campbell officiating. Interment at the Newbern Cemetery.
