Melvin Manser Dies At 62; Rites Set
Melvin Manser, 62, life-long county resident and father of Doyle Manser of Chariton, died Sunday following a short illness. He had been a patient at the Lucas County Memorial Hospital. Mr. Manser lived in the Lacona area where he farmed. Funeral services will be held at the Lacona Methodist Church Thursday at 2 p.m. The Mosher Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. In addition to his son, Mr. Manser is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Howard of Coos Bay, Ore., and Mrs. Frances Howard of Hood River, Ore., 10 brothers and sisters. Twelve grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive.

Melvin Manser Rites Held At Methodist Church July 5
Lacona – Funeral services for Melvin Manser were held July 5, at the Lacona Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Pearl Sams. Ruth Butler was soloist, Beatrice Needles accompanied. Burial was in the Newbern Cemetery. Pallbearers were Perry Offenberger, Glenn Offenberger, George Rinehart, Everett Lang, Richard Schneider and John Roberts. Among relatives attending were Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Howard and Mrs. Glen Howard of Oregon, the Wayne Mansers of California, the Harold Mansers of Algona, Lena Pennington of Lucas and the Doyle Mansers of Chariton. Women of the Newbern Church served dinner to the Manser family at the Lacona Christian Church.
