John Edward Dhabalt
John Edward Dhabalt, son of John Dhabalt and his wife, Cynthia Ann Miller, was born March 16, 1885 in Dallas Township, Marion County, Iowa, near Newbern and passed away peacefully Nov. 9, 1942 at Dallas, attaining the age of 57 years, 8 months and 13 days. July 8, 1905 he was united in marriage with Blanche Doggett, who preceded him in death June 6, 1916, as also an infant. To this union six children were born. July 20, 1918 he was united in marriage with Icyle Boozell. To this union also six children were born and an infant preceded the father in death. In St. John’s Ev. Lutheran church, Melcher, he was baptized Feb. 3, 1935, and received into communicant membership by the rite of confirmation April 14, 1935. He was a faithful and interested member until His Lord and Savior summoned him to his heavenly home. Mr. Dhabalt spent most of his life near Newbern as a humble farmer. For many of his last years he suffered with asthma and heart trouble to which he succumbed. He leaves to mourn his passing the following children of his previous marriage: Mrs. Verne Zoutte and family and Mrs. Julia Willoughby and family of Des Moines; Mrs. Dale Oliver and family of Oklahoma City, Okla.; Freddie Dhabalt and family of Windem, Minn.; and Jerry Dhabalt and family of Moline, Ill.
The children and wife of present marriage: Irven and Mrs. Dhabalt; Guyola Mae, Bellouise, Harold and Leonard, all at home in Dallas. His sisters, Mrs. Joe Mozena and family and Mrs. Andy Rogers and family of Cordova, Ill.; Clarence Sockriter and family of Knoxville, and John Stodden of Phoenix, Ariz. His brothers, Boston of Cordova, Ill., and Chris of Covington, Okla. Also sixteen grandchildren. Funeral services were held at St. John’s Lutheran Church at Melcher, by Rev. Boelter, Dec. 1st. Burial was in the Newbern Cemetery.
