Obituary – Henry Davis
Henry Davis, 67, of Anamosa, Iowa, former resident of Lucas County, died at a hospital in Des Moines on Tuesday evening, July 25, from injuries received in an auto accident the Friday previous, which occurred near Altoona. He and his daughter, Mrs. Flossie Foster, were enroute to Valley Junction and Lacona to visit relatives, and Mrs. Foster was driving at the time of the accident. She was seriously injured and is now in a hospital in Anamosa. Mr. Davis was removed to a hospital in Des Moines, where his death occurred. The body was taken to Lacona, Iowa, where funeral services, conducted by Rev. J. C. Myers, were held Thursday afternoon at the Methodist church, a male quartet furnishing the music. Burial took place in the cemetery at Newbern.
Henry Davis, son of Mordecai and Jane Davis, was born on a farm in Lucas County, south of Lacona, where he resided for many years. Among those in attendance at the funeral services were Mrs. Henry Davis, Glenn Davis, D. L. Davis of Anamosa; Mr. and Mrs. Ross Ricard and son of Kansas City, Mo.; Mrs. Loyd Plummer and son and Mr. and Mrs. Christian of LaPorte City; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Jeffers and two children of Valley Junction; Mr. and Mrs. John Ruble of Chariton.
