Lizzie Copenhafer
Lizzie Ellen Copenhafer, daughter of Jonathan and Polly Baker was born in Lucas County near Newbern on April 24, 1869 and passed away Dec 24, 1953 at the Baker Nursing Home at the age of 84 years and eight months. Preceding her in death were her parents, two sisters and one brother, Mrs. Cora Howard on March 14, 1926, Doris Baker on July 4, 1944 and Mrs. Mary Hunerdosse on Sept 10, 1952. At the age of 17 she was converted and joined the Methodist church at Newbern. In March 1905 she moved to Chariton and placed her church letter in the Methodist church here. On June 22, 1915 she married Frank Copenhafer, who passed away Aug 8, 1922. She leaves to mourn her passing one sister, Mrs. Sophia Cummings of North Platte, Neb., six nephews and three nieces. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, Dec 27, 1953 at the Beardsley Funeral Home with the Rev. Lester Hall officiating. Burial was in the Newbern Cemetery.
