Abraham Grant Clapp, son of Solomon and Rachel Clapp, was born in Jefferson County, Iowa, on May 21, 1865, and departed this life near Newbern, Iowa, on Tuesday morning, January 5, 1937, at the age of 71 years, 7 months and 15 days. Funeral services, conducted by Rev. A. K. Jones of Fairfield, a former pastor of the Chariton Nazarene Church, were held Thursday afternoon at two o’clock at the church in Newbern, and burial was in the Newbern Cemetery. Mr. Clapp was united in marriage to Mary M. Wilson on December 26, 1900. To this union one child, Daisy, was born, who in now Mrs. Ward Millen of Cozad, Nebr. He lived the greater part of his life in Chariton, but the later years were spent in Iowa Falls until recently when he came to the home of his cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Lew Snell, near Newbern, where he had since made his home. Mr. Clapp, in recent years was a Christian man and was a member of the Church of the Nazarene at Iowa Falls. He later transferred his membership to the Mason Church. He was always very kind and courteous and always appreciated deeds of kindness, however small, received from the hands of others. His politeness and good manners will not soon be forgotten by those who knew him. He leaves to mourn their loss his daughter, Mrs. Daisy Millen, a son-in-law, Ward Millen, and four grandchildren, Algin, Adena, Leon and Geren Millen, all of Cozad, Nebr., and two brothers, Casper W. Clapp of Chariton, Iowa and John Clapp of Lemonville, Mo. His wife preceded him in death six years ago.
