Marion Burt
Marion Burt, oldest son of Alphonso and Elizabeth Burt, was born in Herkimer County, New York, July 24, 1844, and passed away in his home in Marion County, Iowa, near Newbern, May 14, 1919. His age was 74 years, 9 months and 20 days. He was married to Maggie Burt in Mina, Chardique County, New York, August 10, 1867. Five children were born to them. They are Mrs. Carrie Jones of Lebanon, Kans., Mrs. Florence Foster of Purdy, and Clarence of Newbern, besides two who died in infancy, Harry and Bernice. He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife and two daughters and one son, two brothers, three sisters, nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He came to Iowa in the spring of 1870 and has lived on the same farm, three miles east of Newbern, forty-nine years. He was a quiet home man, much loved and will be sorely missed. He was a good neighbor and a good citizen. With good morals and eminent trustworthiness, he won the appreciation of the entire community. The funeral services were conducted on Friday, May 16th, by Rev. E. W. Curtis, from the Newbern Presbyterian church. The interment was in the Newbern Cemetery.
