Katherine, daughter of Francis Marion and Mary Louise Ellis, was born Aug. 20, 1872, at Norwalk, where she spent her girlhood days. Her mother died when she was 11 years old and Katherine assumed a large share of the responsibilities of the home at that early age. She was united in marriage to Eddie C. Crow Oct. 19, 1892, at Norwalk. In December 1895 they moved to a farm near Dexter, Kan., with their eldest son. Two other sons were born at this place. At an early age she became a member of the Methodist church and has remained faithful to this church during her entire life. She was beloved in her home and was ever a faithful, loving wife and mother. For over 50 years she lived in the same community, where she attained the respect and love of all who knew her. Her husband died June 16, 1932. She had been in ill health for some time and died at her home, where her son now lives, July 8, 1946. She is survived by her three sons, Herman Ellis of Tulsa, Okla., Harold William and Edwin Carl of Dexter, Kan.; twin brothers, James Ellis of Carlisle and Julian Ellis of Enterprise, Ore.; two other brothers, Raymond and Richard Ellis of Des Moines; six grandchildren all of Dexter, Kan.
