Innocence Angeline Hall
(April 17, 1852 – July 19, 1946)

Mrs. William Hall
Innocence Angeline Copenhafer was born in Akron, Ohio, April 17, 1852, and died July 19, 1946, at the Methodist hospital in Des Moines, having reached the age of 94 years, 3 months, and 2 days. At an early age she moved with her parents from Ohio to Chariton [Iowa] where she grew to womanhood. She received her education in the Chariton schools after which she was a teacher for 14 years. She was married to William Hall Dec. 3, 1874 and to this union three children were born, Pearle, now Mrs. John Jones, Lester, and Manley, who died in 1895 at the age of 13 years. Most of their married life was spent on a farm west of Liberty Center. She moved to Liberty Center with her son, Lester, following Mr. Hall’s death Feb. 25, 1922. At an early age she became a member of the Methodist Church, remaining a faithful member and constant worker for many years. Her health did not permit active service the last five years of her life, but her interest in the church and Sunday School was shown by her never failing to inquire about each service and wishing she could have been present. Her many acts of kindness and her Christian influence in the community in which she lived will always be remembered by those who knew her. She and her son, Lester, have made their home together for the past 24 years. Tuesday, July 9, she fell in her home and suffered a broken hip. She was taken by ambulance to the hospital in Des Moines. She was one of a family of seven children being preceded in death by her father and mother and three sisters and two brothers. Those surviving her are: one daughter, Pearl Jones of Des Moines; one son, Lester of Liberty Center; her son-in-law, John Jones of Des Moines; a sister, Jessie Copenhafer of Des Moines; six nieces; four nephews; and a host of friends. Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church at Liberty Center Sunday afternoon, July 21, 1946, conducted by the Rev. Reed Kessler of Lorimor. Interment was in the Liberty Center Cemetery.
