(March 18, 1862 – September 13, 1946)

Mrs. John L. Knott
Laura Belle Cashman, daughter of George and Grizella Cashman, was born near Red Rock in Marion County March 18, 1862. At the age of 8 she moved with her parents to a farm near the Pleasant Hill church, six miles south of Indianola. Early in life she united with the Methodist church and was a faithful attendant as long as her health permitted. Feb 24, 1881, she was united in marriage to John L. Knott and lived on a farm three miles east of St. Charles, where most of her life was spent in service to her family and neighbors. Mr. and Mrs. Knott moved to St. Charles in 1935 where the husband died Dec. 12, 1939. Her health having failed, she was taken to the hospital at Osceola Jan. 17, 1943, where she was cared for until her death Sept. 13, 1946, at the age of 84 years, 5 months and 25 days. They were the parents of five children, Della and Ray who preceded her in death and Walter, Millie, and Earl who survive. Also, surviving are nine granddaughters; eight great-grandchildren; and one half-sister, Mrs. Effie Graham; a number of nephews and nieces and a host of friends.
