Mary Dorothea Voss
(June 1, 1875 – April 3, 1946)

Mary Dorothea Huss Voss, daughter of John and Wiebke Selk Huss, was born at Prole, June 1, 1875. In her youth she became a member of the Lutheran Church. She was united in marriage to George H. Voss at the home of her parents at Prole in March 1897. For a number of years she and her husband, who was a brick mason, lived in various Iowa communities after which they made their home in Warrenton, Mo. To this union were born five children. Due to a fractured hip, Mrs. Voss was a semi-invalid for the past 20 years. The last six months she had lived in a convalescent home in Lake City near one of her daughters. Death came April 3, 1946, while she was a resident of Lake City. Her husband and one brother preceded her in death. She leaves two sons, Herman of Shelton, Wash., and Otto of Warrenton, Mo.; three daughters, Mrs. Clara Roberts of Kansas City, Mrs. Alvina Boyd of Rockwell City, and Mrs. Evelyn Sund of St. Louis; three brothers, William Huss of Martensdale, Herman Huss of Kellerton, and Otto Huss of Des Moines; five grandchildren and many friends. Mrs. Voss attained the age of 70 years, 10 months, and 2 days. Burial was in Linn Grove Cemetery near Prole, with the Rev. W. H. Klein, pastor of Martensdale Lutheran Church officiating.
