Glenn Franklin Smith
(September 6, 1908 – February 28, 1946)

Glenn Franklin Smith, son of Frank and Rosetta Smith, was born Sept. 6, 1908, on a farm near Carlisle and died at his home in Des Moines Feb. 28, 1946, after an illness of a few months. He was 37 years, 5 months and 22 days old. He began his school days at the Union school and attended Sunday school at the Middle River Friends church. With his parents he lived one year in Carlisle, moving to Hartford community in 1918. He graduated from the Hartford high school in 1926. Glenn was a likeable, industrious young man holding a responsible position at the power and light company plant in Des Moines for 15 years. He was married to Miss Mildred Boggs of Des Moines May 22, 1937. Two children were born to this union: Sharon Kay, 5, and little Stephen Dennis, 12 days old. Glenn loved his home, and his wife and little girl were real pals enjoying his outdoor sports with him which he loved so well. He was a kind and loving husband and father and thoughtful of his parents who will miss him. He is survived by his wife; two children; his parents; two sisters and one brother. They are Lulu Goldizen, Brookings, Ore., Merle Powell, Mr. View, Calif.; and Allen Smith of Des Moines; also a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Des Moines Saturday, March 2, conducted by the Rev. Mr. Purdy, pastor of the Grant Park Church of Christ.
