Mrs. Mae Parker
Mary Mae Hagen, daughter of Benjamin and Amanda Hagan, was born May 22, 1881, near Milo, Iowa, and died Jan. 7, 1945, at Indianola, Iowa, at the age of 63 years, 7 months and 15 days. On Jan. 8, 1898, she was united in marriage to E. J. Parker of Milo, and lived all of her life in Warren County except one year when she lived in Excelsior Springs, Mo. Her father, mother and one sister preceded her in death, and also her husband who died Feb 12, 1937. Mrs. Parker is survived by two brothers and one sister, besides many other relatives and friends. The brothers are Clarence K. Hagan of Wheatridge, Colo., and Oscar F. Hagan of Pine, Colo. The sister is Mrs. C. W. Wells of Derby, Iowa. Mae, as she was called by those who knew her well, was of a kind and gentle spirit and loved by many friends. She had been ill for several years and had suffered much but patiently. During her illness of the last several years she had been most faithfully and patiently cared for by her husband’s uncle, Henry Parker, and for the last five months had been at the Burton nursing home in Indianola. Mae was converted when a young woman 18 years of age. She later became a member of the Milo Church of Christ in Christian Union and was at the time of her death a member of the Indianola Methodist Church. She was faithful to the Master and had no fear of death. She will be missed by her many friends and loved ones for her cheerfulness and kindness. Funeral services were held Jan. 9, 1945, at 2 p.m. at the Orr Funeral home, conducted by Rev. J. W. Garbison of Cool. Miss Irene Robertson sang two songs accompanied by her mother, Mrs. Charles Robertson. Interment was in the Milo cemetery.
