Elizabeth Runciman
(March 22, 1819 – April 23, 1896)

Obituary
Elizabeth Hastie was born in Berwickshire, Scotland, March 22, 1819 and died April 23, 1896. She came to the United States and was married to William Runciman in 1850. Six children were born to them – three sons and three daughters, two sons and one daughter surviving her. At twenty years of age she professed faith in Christ and united with the U. P. church in her native land. Her faith never wavered but grew stronger and during her last days impressed the joy she felt at the near prospect of meeting her Savior. The funeral took place Friday from the late residence conducted by Rev. Jamison. The remains were laid to rest in the Scotch Ridge cemetery followed by a large concourse of friends.[copied from a scrapbook at the Warren County Historical Society Library, Indianola, Iowa]
