Alexander N. Hopkins
(October 4, 1881 – December 15, 1944)

Alexander N. Hopkins, youngest child of Mr. and Mrs. John Hopkins, was born Oct. 4, 1881, at Denver, Mo. He died at Ellsworth hospital, Iowa Falls, Dec 15, 1944. His parents and one sister, Mrs. Lizzie Aubert, preceded him in death 13 months ago. Mr. Hopkins lived in and around Spring Hill and attended school there. At the age of 21 he began working on the farm for A. J. Reed. As he had no permanent home he worked for him most of the time for 25 years. He never married. In November 1911 he moved to New Providence and again to the A. J. Reed home. In the spring of 1921 they moved near Iowa Falls. He worked in and around Iowa Falls for the past 12 years. He had bought a nice trailer and had been living in it. For several months he had been employed by the city. The last week of September he was taken ill never to gain his strength again. Again he went to the Reed home where he was cared for. He later was removed to the hospital. He always lived a quiet life and died as he had lived. While his suffering was more than any one will ever know, he never complained. Surviving is one sister, Mrs. Nan Baber, Chariton, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at the Woods Funeral Chapel, Sunday, Dec 17, at 2:30 p.m. The Rev. Harold Dorrance of the Open Bible church was in charge. Mrs. Dorrance and Miss Hattie DeFries were in charge of the song service. Burial was in the Union Cemetery at Iowa Falls.
