Nancy Taggart
(September 28, 1855 – December 16, 1944)

Mrs. Nancy Taggart, daughter of William and Elizabeth Philbee, was born Sept. 28, 1855 in the state of Ohio and died at Indianola, Ia., Dec. 16, 1944, at the age of 89 years, 2 months and 18 days. She was the last of the family of eight children. In early childhood she moved with her parents to Yates City, Ill., where she grew to womanhood. She was united in marriage to Charles Taggart Sept. 6, 1877. To this union were born three children, John Taggart of Medora, Mrs. Avis Lower who preceded her in death April 14, 1924, and Mrs. Zola Edwards of Indianola. They came to Warren County in the spring of 1881 and settled in Squaw Township. A few years later they moved to Medora where they united with the Presbyterian church and lived a happy Christian life together. Mr. Taggart preceded her in death at his home in Medora March 27, 1926.
Due to failing health, she moved to Indianola 15 months ago. She is survived by her son; a daughter; a son-in-law; a daughter-in-law; four grandchildren, Mrs. Nancy Kennedy of Indianola, Mrs. Isabel Forman of New Virgina, Charles Lower of Kingman, Kan., and John Lower of Indianapolis, Ind.; nine great-grandchildren; besides a host of relatives and friends.
