Ada Elberta Miller
(April 9, 1896 – October 28, 1923)

Ada Elberta Fleming, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Fleming was born in Osceola, Ia., April 9th, 1896, and died in the Sunny Slope Hospital at Ottumwa, Iowa, Sunday, Oct 28, 1923, at the age of 27 years. On Nov 17th, 1915 at Osceola, where she had grown to young womanhood, Miss Fleming was united in marriage with Loyd Miller, also of Osceola. There were born to this union two children, Kenneth who is seven years of age, and Gladys who is five. Mr. Miller departed from this life a little over a year ago, and since the departure of both father and mother, Kenneth will live with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Miller of Osceola, while Gladys will find a home with her grandmother, Mrs. Gladys Allen of Ottumwa.
Prior to her death Mrs. Miller had been in the hospital about five months having been sick about six weeks before her removal from the home at Oskaloosa, to the hospital. The body was returned to Osceola and taken to the home of her brother, John Fleming, which is a short distance southwest of Osceola, stands on the sight of the house in which Mrs. Miller was born. Mrs. Miller was a loyal member of the First Christian Church at Oskaloosa, Iowa, where both she and her husband were baptized in February preceeding his death in August 1922. While apparently fast asleep one day at the hospital she heard the familiar strains of some one playing, “Lord, I’m coming Home,” and in emotional response said, “yes, I’m Coming Home.” For the near ones and the children she had some farewell words, which shall always remain dear to them. Many friends and relatives will mourn her departure besides the immediate loved ones who are: Mrs. Gladys Allen, her mother, two brothers, John and Fred Fleming, two sisters, Mrs. John Sutton and Mrs. Rouine Shaffer, and two children, Kenneth and Gladys. Funeral services were conducted from the Osceola Christian Church, Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 31st by Rev. LeRoy Munyon. Interment was made in Maple Hill Cemetery.
