John Bishop
(November 29, 1850 – April 17, 1923)

The community was surprised last week to learn of the death of John Bishop. Mr. Bishop has been a resident of this community for some time but on account of poor health had been in the sanitarium in Clarinda, where he died. Funeral services were held in the Scotch Ridge Church and were conducted by his pastor, Brother Lopham of Des Moines. Mr. Bishop’s wife preceded him some years ago and he leaves to mourn him two daughters, Mrs. Clyde Turnipseed of this place and Mrs. Harry Casaday of Indianola, two sons, Hugh Bishop of Minnesota and Edd Bishop of near St. Marys, beside many other relatives and friends. The remains were laid to rest in the Scotch Ridge cemetery. He was a member of the Baptist church of this place and a great Bible student. The sympathy of the community is extended to those who grieve.
