James Alexander Wood
(June 26, 1872 – September 30, 1923)

Obituary – James Alexander Wood
James Alexander, son of Mary and William Wood, was born near Spring Hill June 26, 1872, and died at his home in Spring Hill Sept. 30, 1923 being 51 years, 3 months and 4 days old. He became a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church about the year of 1893 under the ministry of Reverend Mr. Preston and remained a consistent member of the same til the time of his death. He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife, Alma Hoover, and seven children: Ralph W., Harold R., Carl V., Lucile, Leslie James, Ivyl and Kenneth, the baby; one brother, John M. and two sisters, Mrs. Nora Richards and Mrs. Effie Adamson; two grandchildren, daughters of Ralph W. and a goodly number of other relatives and many friends. His cheerful disposition will long be remembered; he was a good father, and a loving husband, giving much thought and care to his home and loved ones, and he was always willing to help neighbors and friends in time of need.
Funeral services were held in the Spring Hill Methodist Church by the pastor, Rev. Harold M. Dudley and Rev. James Walls, who was pastor to the deceased’s family for the past three years, Tuesday morning at ten o’clock. The children and young people from the consolidated school were present with their teachers, a rare tribute to the memory and esteem of Mr. Wood. Interment in the Indianola Cemetery.
