Sanford Thomas Runyan
(June 9, 1837 – July 28, 1923)

Santford [Sanford] Thomas Runyan, son of Phineas and Rebecca Runyan, was born in Huntington County, Pennsylvania, June 9th, 1837, and died at his residence in Milo, Iowa, July 28th, 1923, at the age of 86 years, 1 month, and 19 days. When he was four years of age, with his parents he came to Miami County, Ohio, and from there the family moved to Logan County, Ohio. In October 1861, at the age of twenty-five, he enlisted in Co. K, 42nd Ohio infantry and was mustered out of the service November 15th, 1864. He was in the battle of Chickasaw Bluffs in December 1862, and from there went to Arkansas Post, where five thousand prisoners were captured, and from there went to Vicksburg where he was wounded, just after [text missing] Mississippi River [text missing].
