Caroline Schulte
(March 2, 1851 – May 14, 1923)

Caroline Pattermann Schulte was born in Cincinnatti, Ohio, March 2, 1851 and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Limke, St. Marys, May 14, 1923, aged 72 years, two months and 12 days. In the early fifties she came with her parents to Guttenberg, Ia., thence to St. Marys, Iowa, where she came with her parents to Guttenberg, Ia., thence to St. Marys, Iowa, where she was united in marriage to J. B. Schulte. Five children were born to this union, John, Joseph and Louis, of Granger, Iowa, Mrs. Jno. Limke, of St. Marys, Iowa and Mrs. H. E. Brabender, of Adrian, Minn. She was well known in business circles, going in the general merchandise business at St. Marys in 1892. In 1905 they moved to Granger, Iowa, known as C. Schulte & Sons. In 1917 she retired from active life and the firm then and now known as Schulte Brothers. She was taken sick about January 1st, 1923, and never fully recovered. She leaves besides her children twelve grandchildren, two brothers, three sisters to mourn her loss. She was buried from St. Marys Church, St. Mary, Iowa. Interment at St. Marys Cemetery. May her soul rest in peace.
