Written by Mrs. Fern McFarland for this occasion – May 13, 1940:
A kind and loving friend has left us and your voice no more we’ll hear, but you’ve left us many memories though we recall them through our tears. Life is just a rugged highway, with sorrows and heartaches sure to come, but we are taken by the Savior down the valley one by one. Life is just a fleeting moment, all too soon the last sad day. Like the flowers that bloom so sweetly, we must wilt and pass away, but there’s always hope and promise and a faith we must abide, and your passing brings great sorrow to your friends, both far and wide. So we leave you now to slumber ‘neath the flowers and deep blue sky. Then dear friend and loving Father, we can only say – Goodbye.
