(January 7, 1912 – April 23, 1939)

ZADA CURNES RHODES
Zada May Curnes, daughter of Elmer and Bertha Curnes, was born in Des Moines, Ia., Jan. 7, 1912, and departed this life at her home in Des Moines, Ia., April 23, 1939, at the age of 27 years, 3 months and 16 days. Practically all of her life was spent in Warren and Polk counties. On Jan 30, 1935, she was united in marriage to Samuel Rhodes. Zada was kind and loving and naturally made many friends. However, she was most deeply appreciated and tenderly loved by those who knew her best. She leaves to mourn her death her husband; her father and mother; five sisters, Lula Gillett, Lila Clary and Louree all of Indianola, Georgia White of Woodburn, Ia., and Lois Kirkland of Salem, Oregon; three brothers, Clarence and Robert, both of Indianola, and Carl of Eugene, Ore.; a niece and nephew, Charlotte and Gerald Curnes; two grandmothers, Ida Coles and Sarah Curnes, both of Liberty Center, and other relatives and a host of friends. “The eyes so dear are closed in death, the voice we loved is still, a place is vacant in our hearts, which never can be filled.”
