Obituary – Oren E. Hicks
Oren E. Hicks, son of James E. and Myrtle Hicks, was born at Sandyville, Iowa, January 9, 1902, and died at his home in Indianola, Iowa, March 8, 1940. He spent the early years of his life at Sandyville attending the school there, later moving with his parents to Indianola and attending the Indianola schools. He had made quite a number of friends and acquaintances in and around Indianola. For some time he had been attending the services of the Nazarene church and enjoyed its fellowship very much. He was an only child. He is survived by his father and mother, grandmother, Mrs. Ella McNair, and a number of other relatives. The funeral service was held on Sunday afternoon at the Orr Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Sampson Cocks, pastor of the First Presbyterian church. Burial was in the Indianola cemetery.
