(April 8, 1851 – May 27, 1939)

SAMUEL B. MCFARLAND
Samuel Bashford McFarland, son of John Perry and Amanda McFarland, departed this life May 27, 1939, at the age of 88 years, one month and 19 days. He was united in marriage to Eliza Ann Shupe November 9, 1881, who preceded him in death March 2, 1937. To this union four daughters were born; Adah May Mills, Josie Geraldine Lamb, Mina Belle Young and Edna Ella Freel. All are living except Adah, who passed away November 30, 1920. Her daughter, Lavella Mills, made her home with her grandparents until her grandmother’s death. Those who survive are three daughters; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, John McFarland, of Gerring, Neb., and one sister, Mina Bartlett, of Fresno, Calif., and a host of friends. Since his wife’s death, Mr. McFarland had made his home with his daughter, Mina. He was a member of the Methodist church and enjoyed attending whenever he could. Funeral services were in charge of the Rev. Reed Kessler of Earlham. Interment was in the I.O.O.F. cemetery at Liberty Center at 2 o’clock. Monday.
