(September 18, 1878 – February 18, 1939)

FRED ROBERT KIMZEY
Fred Robert Kimzey, son of Robert and Lochie Goode Kimzey, was born Sept. 18, 1878, and passed to his eternal rest Feb 18, 1939, at the age of 80 years and 5 months, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Wayne Reeves, in Des Moines, Ia. He was the youngest of a family of 10 children, one brother, Sellie, dying in infancy, and his oldest brother, Walter, having passed on three years ago this month. Mr. Kimzey was married to Effie Myrtle Downing, March 28, 1901. There were born to them two daughters, Alice Freda Cramer of Norwalk and Martha Helen Reeves of Des Moines. During the pastorate of the Rev. Frank Lister, Mr. Kimzey was converted and joined the church in Green Plain. Since that time he had been a very devoted and faithful worker in the church. During his last illness he prayed many times for the people in the Green Plain neighborhood and for the church he loved so much. He leaves to mourn his passing his devoted companion; his daughters and two little granddaughters, Alice Joyce and Helen Kaye Reeves; three sisters, Mrs. Alice Greenfield, Mrs. Sue Bishett and Mrs. Nell Wolcott of Milo; four brothers, Joe and Harl of Milo; Philip of Harvey and John of Indianola; nieces and nephews and many close friends. The funeral service was held at the Green Plain church, Feb 21. The Rev. C. H. Orf of Keosauqua, a former pastor, preached the sermon, assisted by the Rev. O. G. Orcutt of Milo. Interment was in the Indianola cemetery. [copied from a newspaper clipping in a scrapbook at the Warren County Historical Society, Indianola, Iowa]
