Liberty Center Resident Dies
Charles Henry, son of Franklin and Elizabeth Williams, was born in Osawatomie, Kans., Nov 13, 1864, and died Oct 19, 1938, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Fred Bumgarner, near Liberty Center, at the age of 73 years, 11 months and six days. He was united in marriage on Jan. 25, 1891, with Miss Nettie Helms. To this union four children were born, three of whom survive him: Mrs. Fred Bumgarner of Liberty Center, Sylvester, of Lacona, and Harry, of Gary, Ind. He was preceded in death by his parents; his devoted companion, who died April 27, 1917; one daughter, Loretta May, who died in infancy; two brothers, Sylvester and Frank Williams; and one grandson, Raymond Bumgarner, who died Aug. 29, 1926. He leaves nine grandchildren to mourn his passing. Mr. Williams, with his family, moved from Osowatomie, Kans., to Lacona in 1907, living there two years then moving to Norwood where he lived for several years, and in 1916 moved near Liberty Center, where he had since resided. Under the pastorate of the Rev. S. J. Mathieson he was converted and united with the Christian church at Lacona, Jan 2, 1909, and took a deep interest in the church and Sunday school work while residing in this community. He was of a kind and generous nature, always lending a helping hand to those in need, and will be greatly missed by his children, neighbors and friends. His illness was of three weeks duration and he bore his suffering patiently until death claimed him. The funeral was held at the Christian Neck church Friday afternoon, Oct. 21, conducted by the Rev. Robert D. Morlock. Burial was in the Norwood Cemetery.
