Mrs. Sargent Dies At Liberty Center
Mary Ellen, daughter of David and Mary Williams, was born Nov. 16, 1858, and departed this life on July 17, 1939, at her home in Liberty Center, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Elias Gesselar Sargent on Nov. 24, 1876. To them were born eight children. Two of them, Minnie and Ada, preceded her in death. The living are Mrs. J. C. Hess, Mrs. Etta Horner, Willie, Harley, Guy and Ray Sargent. Also a brother, Charles Williams, two sisters, Nettie Jenkins and Ella Murry of Lacona, survive.
She was converted and united with the Methodist church at an early age and has always lived a good honest Christian life. She has been in failing health for several months, but her last severe illness was of six weeks’ duration. She was tenderly cared for by the children, who were constantly at her bedside and did all that loving hands could do to relieve her suffering. Besides her immediate family she leaves 39 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends. The funeral was conducted in the Liberty Center Methodist church by the Rev. Robert D. Morlock and burial was made in the Indianola Cemetery.
