JOHANNA HEEMSTRA
Johanna Heemstra, daughter of George and Elizabeth Westerly, was born in Chicago, Ill., July 9, 1864, and died Oct 22, 1943, aged 79 years, 3 months, and 13 days. In 1886 she was united in marriage to John Heemstra who died 14 years ago. They spent the first five years of their married life in Pella, Ia., and the remainder was spent in Warren County. To this union were born three children, Mrs. Allie Ferguson, Mrs. Lizzie Judkins and Howard Heemstra, all of Liberty Center. Surviving her are three children: nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one brother and two sister, George and Elizabeth Westerly of Indianola and Mrs. Cornelia Van Zee of Pella; and a host of relatives and friends. Three brothers, Ernest, Henry and Ed preceded her in death. In 1904 during the revival meeting held at Liberty Center she professed religion. She was a good mother and will be greatly missed by all. Funeral services were held at the Overton Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct 27, with interment at Liberty Center. Services were conducted by the Rev. O. G. Orcutt, pastor of the Liberty Center Church.
