Mrs. Agnes W. Tipton
Agnes M. Warren, daughter of Adroll and Jeanette Warren, was born near Rochester, Fulton County, Indiana, January 7, 1858. On September 22, 1875, she was united in marriage to John Adams Tipton and came with him immediately following their marriage to settle near Knoxville, Iowa. There they set up their farm home and continued to live until 35 years ago when they moved to Warren County. At the death of her husband about 17 years ago she made her home in Indianola. Mrs. Tipton had been a patient sufferer for a number of years. A fractured hip which she suffered in an accident some years ago rendered her a semi-invalid, but she tried heroically to bear her burdens cheerfully and with Christian fortitude. Although she never identified herself with the church or the social life of Indianola her early training was within the influence of the Christian Faith, and she often expressed during her later years her trust in God and in her Saviour. Two sons were born to her, both of whom survive. They are Claude W. Tipton of Indianola, and Ralph Tipton of Houston, MO. She is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Libby Strunk, living in Tennessee, and Mrs. Dora Wilson, of Culver, Ind., and one brother, Monroe Warren, who lives in Ohio. There are nine grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends. Mrs. Tipton passed away very suddenly at the home of M. E. Black in Indianola, where she had been staying for several years, on April 7, in her 81st year. Funeral services were conducted from the Orr Funeral home, Sunday afternoon, April 10, at 2 o’clock, by the Rev. Dr. Benjamin F. Schwartz. Interment was in the Indianola Odd Fellows cemetery.
